the A1:
Take the A69 exit to Hexham. Continue along the A69 heading West until you reach Styford roundabout (about 15 miles). Take the 1st exit South onto the A68. Drive down the hill and over the River Tyne, then take the 3rd exit at the next roundabout on the A695 towards Riding Mill. Drive through Riding Mill, and past the national speed limit signs at the West end of the village. Exactly 1km from these signs turn left up a steep single track road (just before some houses on your right). Follow this lane for 600 yards, then just before you reach the brow of the hill turn immediately left into the entrance, Riding Hills Farm is on your right; you can park in front of the short stone wall ahead of you right outside the cottage; steps to the door are on your right.

Drive through the village heading South towards the bridge over the River Tyne; cross the bridge and take the 1st exit left at the roundabout. Drive up the bank over the railway, and keep heading towards Gateshead on the A695 for another 2km of relatively straight road; then before the road sweeps down to the right again (just after some houses on your left) turn right up a steep single track road. Follow this lane for 600 yards, then just before you reach the brow of the hill turn immediately left into the entrance, Riding Hills Farm is on your right; you can park in front of the short stone wall ahead of you right outside the cottage; steps to the door are on your right.
